Oct. 12, 2007
NACOGDOCHES - Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack coaches, student-athletes and supporters were in attendance at the SFA Athletic Fieldhouse Friday afternoon for the official opening of the William B. Lawton Ready Room. Lawton, of Lake Charles, La., provided funds for the renovation of the fieldhouse's main meeting room. "Although Mr. Lawton's primary interest is football," said SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill. "His generous donation will benefit all SFA athletic teams who use this room." The guests were greeted by University President Dr. Baker Pattillo and Hill. Following the ceremony those in attendance were invited into the William B. Lawton Ready Room for their first look at the renovation. "This is the first room within the fieldhouse that has been named in honor of a donor," said Hill. "This is a trend I would welcome in the future as we seek to remodel other sections of our facilities." SFA completely renovated the ready room, replacing the carpet and adding a new ceiling. The old seating was removed, and replaced with lecture hall seating. It was also decorated with pictures of the SFA game day environment. -SFA- |
