SFA to Participate in 'Take A Kid to the Game'
Oct. 30, 2006 NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team is once again promoting "Take a Kid to the Game" (TAKG) Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, when the Lumberjacks host Sam Houston State at Homer Bryce Stadium. The promotion allows all children ages 14-and-under to get into the game free. Along with free admission to the Lumberjacks' game against the rival Bearkats, kids can also enjoy free popcorn, and $1 hot dogs. The SFA spirit squads will also be on hand to meet the kids and do face paintings. Stephen F. Austin is one of more than 200 schools across the nation that is taking part in this campaign focused on allowing youth the opportunity to attend college football games. The Take A Kid to the Game® program is entering into its 10th year in the promotion of collegiate athletics. The TAKG program is presented by Coca-Cola and sponsored by other Corporate Champions, like Cingular Wireless. The program is one of the national promotions of NCAA Football, the marketing arm of college football. NCAA Football represents a coalition of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the Conference Commissioners Association. "We look forward to having kids from the community be apart of our game day experience and support NCAA Football's Take A Kid to the Game® program," said SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill. "This event is a great opportunity for children to spend quality time with a parent or role model while learning about the fundamentals of college football in a family-oriented atmosphere that is NCAA Football." The game against the Bearkats is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium. Tickets for this special game, will become available October 23rd, and can be purchased at the SFA ticket office.
