    PLANO, Texas - The Southland Conference has suspended 16 football student-athletes in the aftermath of a postgame fight following the Oct. 30 Sam Houston State at Stephen F. Austin contest, league commissioner Tom Burnett announced on Tuesday. The Conference suspended eight student-athletes from each institution.

    Stephen F. Austin student-athletes Brandon Garrett, Robert Castillo, Rodney Fuller, Erik Wilson, Ryan Smith, Jeremy Davis, Miguel Toulon and Cedric Reescano shall serve a one-game suspension during SFA's Nov. 6 Southland Conference contest at Nicholls State. Sam Houston student-athletes Bernard Campbell, Scorpio Babers, Elijah Simon, Steve Pickering, Ryan Dretke, Adam Karas, John Griffin and Brad Baca shall serve the same suspension during Sam Houston's home game Nov. 6 versus McNeese State.
