'Jacks to Face Texas A&M in 2010

Nov. 14, 2008

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will open the 2010 slate at Texas A&M SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill announced Friday morning. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Kyle Field.

"We try to schedule at least one NCAA Division I FBS opponent every season," said Hill. "Our coaches and players always look forward to these games and enjoy the challenges they present. It also provides our alumni within the state another opportunity to see us play."

It marks the first meeting on the football field between the two schools since the 1935 season, and the third overall meeting. The 'Jacks are 0-2 all-time against the Aggies.

With the addition of Texas A&M, SFA will play an NCAA Division I FBS Texas opponent each of the next four seasons. The Lumberjacks will travel to SMU in 2009 and 2012, and will travel to Waco to take on Baylor in 2011.
