PLANO, Texas - Michael Williams threw a career high three touchdown passes Saturday against Nicholls State to help the Lumberjacks to a 28-16 win over the Colonels. For his efforts, he was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week in a vote of conference SIDs. After helping McNeese State clinch at least a share of its third straight Southland Conference football title with a 13-9 win over visiting Northwestern State, Ryan Garrison and John Marino of McNeese State have been voted league players of the week on defense and special teams, respectively. Following is a look at their performances along with others nominated.

Offense
Michael Williams, Stephen F. Austin, Jr., QB, 6-0, 196, Houston, Texas
Williams completed 11-of-15 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns in
a 28-16 win over Nicholls State. He also added 13 carries for 29 yards
in the game. He completed touchdown passes of 49, 30 and 16 yards
against the Colonels. Most of the game was played with heavy rain making
conditions tough for both teams. The three touchdown passes raise Williams' passing
efficiency rating to 164.00.

Defense
Ryan Garrison, McNeese State, Sr., 6-1, 235, Franklin, La.
Garrison had a total of 14 tackles (8 unassisted), one tackle for a
loss, three QB hurries and one pass broken up in win over Northwestern
State. In a goalline stance in second quarter, he was in on the first
three plays. He held a running back to one yard, stopped the quarterback
for no gain and then broke up pass. Northwestern State had to try a
field goal and missed.

Special Teams
John Marino, McNeese State, Jr., K, 5-10, 205, Covington, La.
Marino booted field goals of 47 and 24 yards and added a PAT for seven
of McNeese's 13 points in a win over Northwestern State. The 47-yard
field goal tied his career long.

HONOR ROLL
OFFENSE
Vick King, McN, Sr., TB, 5-11, 206, Cutoff, La.
King came up big when the Cowboys needed him in a victory over
Northwestern State, helping the Cowboys clinch a share of their third
straight Southland Conference title. The game's leading rusher with 145
yards on 22 carries, he had a 61-yard run to set up a John Marino field
goal to give the Cowboys a 6-3 lead in the second quarter. The yardage
put him over 1,000 yards for the season.

DEFENSE
Jeremy Davis, SFA, Jr., LB, 6-2, 240, The Colony, Texas
Davis led all SFA tacklers with 20 tackles (12 solos) against Nicholls
State. Davis and the SFA defensive unit held Nicholls State to just 89
yards rushing in the second half of play. Nicholls State entered the
game averaging 413.0 ypg of total offense, but was held to just 273
yards of offense and one offensive touchdown in the game.

Carlos Stephens, NWLa., Jr., DE, 6-0, 234, Bastrop, La.
Stephens had 10 tackles, including two for lost yards and half a sack,
Saturday night in a 13-9 loss at top-ranked McNeese State. He
spearheaded a Purple Swarm defense that limited the SLC's top offense to
23 points and nearly 200 yards under the Cowboys' season averages.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Clay Gilbert, SFA, Jr., P, 5-8, 180, Richardson, Texas
Gilbert punted six times for a 40.3 yards per punt avearge. He had a
long of 51-yards, with two punts inside the Nicholls State 20-yard line
and one touchback.
