McLeroy Finishes Ninth at Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas - Junior Mitchell McLeroy fired a one-over 73 on the final day of the Border Olympics Saturday morning to card a 71-75-73 - 219 to finish ninth overall, but the rest of the Lumberjack golf team was unable to follow suit. Stephen F. Austin finished 16th overall with a 304-312-311 - 927.
Senior Stetson McMillan was never able to find his rhythm in any of the three rounds closing out the tournament with 74-77-78 - 229 to place tied for 45th. Freshman Austin DeWitt shot a 79 in the final round, improving by three strokes over his round two score. DeWitt finished tied for 80th overall (79-82-79 - 240). Seniors Michael Smith and Jared Johnson finished the tournament tied for 87th with a three-round 246.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action Monday when they travel to Houma, La., to compete in the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate.
