SFA Golfers Remain Seventh

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team improved on its opening round 301 by three strokes Tuesday afternoon, but they remain seventh overall at the Southland Conference Championships. The 'Jacks are only two strokes back of Sam Houston State for sixth place.
Senior Brian Grossman is eighth overall after shooting a second round 75 to finish the day with a 144. Freshman Josh Irving had a big day shooting a one-under-par 71 and is currently tied for 18th overall. Senior Jason Landry is currently tied for 35th overall with a two-day score of 77-77 - 154. Junior James Winkley and redshirt freshman Johnathan Porter are currently tied for 46th overall with a two-day score of 160. Winkley shot a second round 82, while Porter turned in a three-over-par 75 Tuesday afternoon.
The Lumberjacks will return to the course Wednesday morning for the final round of action at the SLC Championships. The third and final round is scheduled to get under way at 8 a.m. from the Kingwood Deerwood Golf Course.
