'Jacks Climb One Spot At UTSA/Lone Star Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team improved by three strokes from their opening round score carding a 303 on the second day of the UTSA/Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. Senior Mitchell McLeroy fired a one-under par 71 on the par 72 Hill Country Resort Golf Club Course. He enters Tuesday's final round of action tied for third overall. Sophomore Blake Pugh had a solid second day, but was two strokes off yesterday's score. He enters Tuesday tied for 21st with a 73-75 - 148. Sophomore Austin DeWitt is tied for 59th after rounds of 77-78 - 155. Freshman Bradley Phelps and sophomore Cody Wing rallied from tough opening rounds. Phelps fired a 79, five strokes better than Sunday's opening round, Monday morning, while Wing cut eight strokes from his opening day score (88-80 - 168).
