Lumberjacks Climb Leaderboard on Final Day

RUSTON, La – The Stephen F. Austin men’s golf team carded a final round 296 Tuesday morning to finish tied for 8th at the Jim River Intercollegiate. The Lumberjacks fired their low team score of the tournament to finish 301-300-296 – 897 on the 7,105 yard, par-72 course at Squire Creek.
SFA Junior Blake Pugh led the ‘Jacks in scoring for the week, firing a final round 74 to finish in 10th place at 217. The top-ten finish was Pugh’s second of the season and sixth of his career.
Sophomore Luke Sheehan carded a final round 74 to finish at 224, tied for 27th. Junior Austin DeWitt fired his low round of the tournament Tuesday, with a three-over 75 to finish tied for 38th at 228.
Junior Bradley Phelps bounced back Tuesday to card his low round of the tournament with a one-over 73, finishing tied for 48th at 230. Redshirt Junior Baxter Ward finished tied for 60th at 236 with a final round 80.
Competing as a medalist, Junior Cody Wing closed the tournament with a final round four-over 76 to finish tied for 44th at 229.
The Lumberjacks travel to Florida next week for The Quail Valley College Invitational in Vero Beach, FL, Oct. 28-29.
