KERRVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team, which is coming off two strong performances, was unable to maintain that momentum in the opening day of the UTSA/Comanche Trace Invitational Monday afternoon at the Club at Comanche Trace. The Lumberjacks recorded a 326-302 - 628 in the first two rounds, 20 strokes off the pace, but only six strokes separates SFA from the next three teams.

After not having a single player record a round lower than an 80 in the opening round, the Lumberjacks fought back in the second round having the ability to drop a 79. Sophomore Michael Smith was the team's most consistent player shooting an 80-76 - 156. He is currently tied for 22nd overall. Freshman Stetson McMillan improved nine strokes from his opening-round score to finish the day tied for 27th with an 83-74 -157. McMillan is tied with senior Chad Spencer who finished the day with an 81-76 - 157. Junior Josh Irving is one stroke back with a 158. He is tied for 33rd overall. Sophomore Kyle Robbins was unable to find his stroke finishing tied for 47th with a 162.

The Lumberjacks return to action Tuesday morning to conclude the Comanche Trace Invitational.
