SFA Golf Teams Struggle in Final Fall Outing

HAMMOND, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team fired a 300-306 - 606 Monday afternoon and is currently tied for 10th with Louisiana-Monroe at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate. The Ladyjacks recorded an opening day 332-318 - 650 at the Cowgirl Fall Invitational, and are currently sixth in the eight-team field, but lead tournament-host McNeese State by 18 strokes. Junior Kyle Robbins recorded a team-low 146 Monday, and is currently tied for 16th overall. Sophomore Stetson McMillan struggled with a five-over 77 in the opening round, but finished the day with a two-over 74. McMillan is currently tied for 38th overall. Junior Michael Smith is two strokes back of McMillan with an opening-day 74-79 - 153. Smith heads into Tuesday's final round tied for 49th. Senior Matt Oates and sophomore Jordan Wynn are tied for 68th overall with a 162. Freshman Wallis Spears finished the opening day with a top-10 score. She carded a 78-75 - 153 and is currently seventh overall. Junior Noelle Willcoxon finished the day with an 83-82 - 165 and is tied for 28th overall. Freshmen Chelsea Simmons (87-79 - 166) and Allison Flake (84-82 - 166) are one stroke back of Willcoxon's pace. Classmate Erin Daurity is currently 44th overall with a 96-88 - 184.
