Golfers Finish 17th at UTSA Intercollegiate
Feb. 20, 2007 SAN ANTONIO, Texas - For the second consecutive outing, the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team was led by a freshman. Diboll native Matthew Oates shot a team-low 76 Tuesday morning to lead SFA. Oates finished tied for 37th overall with a 227. The Lumberjacks finished 17th as a team after shooting 320-310-318 - 948. After leading the 'Jacks through the first two rounds, freshman Ricky Wilkenfeld dropped off the pace Tuesday recording a final-round 82. He finished with a two-day score of 231, which was tied for 52nd overall. Senior Ryan Salinas recorded a three-round score of 85-78-79 - 242 to finish tied for 74th. Junior Chad Spencer shot 85-86-81 - 252 to finish 88th overall. Sophomore Johnathan Porter finished 89th overall after carding an 82-85-87 - 254. The Lumberjacks will take nearly a month off before returning to competition.
