NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin State University golf coach Mike Hopson has announced the signing of two student-athletes to letters of intent to play golf and continue their education at the university next fall. Matt Burke, a 2002 graduate of Mansfield High School, and Josh Price, a 2002 graduate of Marble Falls High School, have both agreed to play golf for SFA next fall.

Burke was a member of the Mansfield High School golf team that was ranked as high as third in the state among 5A teams this season. He spent three years playing for the varsity golf team, posting four top ten and three top five finishes as a junior. Burke, a National Honor Society member also continued his strong play through his senior season.

Josh Price will join the Lumberjack golf team after wrapping up a high school career that was capped off this past spring with the Class 4A state individual title. The Marble Falls High School product shot rounds of 74-68 at the state tournament to take home the individual honors. He posted a top ten finish at the state tournament as a junior.

A three-time team MVP, Price was also a member of the National Honor Society, and was a First Team All-State selection in 2001.

Burke and Price will enroll at SFA in August.
