SFA Golfers In Seventh Heading Into Final Round At Stonebridge Invitational
Oct. 2, 2001 The Lumberjack golf team turned in rounds of 294-295 yesterday on the par 72, 7,085 yard Stonebridge Country Club course in McKinney, to finish day one of the SMU Intercollegiate in seventh place. The 'Jacks are just six strokes behind Texas Tech in sixth and 11 shots back of fifth place Coastal Carolina. SMU leads after day one with rounds of 280-283, to post a one day total of 13 under par, 563. SFA is at 13 over par, 589. Tim Speichert led the Lumberjacks with rounds of 71-71, and stands in eleventh place, at 2 under, 142. Newcomers J.P. Landry and Trevor Sauntry are both tied for 23rd place with a total of five over par, 147. John Powers shot rounds of 77-78, and stands in 71st, at 155. Rounding things out for the 'Jacks was Jeremy Ice, sho shot rounds of 75-83. SFA wraps up play in the event Tuesday with an 18-hole final round. The 'Jacks return to action October 15 & 16 in the SFA Crown Classic, at Lufkin's Crown Colony Country Club.
