'Jacks In Second Place Heading Into Final Round Of Crown Classic
Oct. 13, 2003 LUFKIN, Texas -- The University of Texas-San Antonio shot rounds of 286-292 Monday at the SFA - Southern Chrysler Crown Classic to lead by four strokes over second place Stephen F. Austin heading into Tuesday's final round. The Lumberjacks are five shots ahead of third place Texas State following rounds of 287-295. John Elizondo of UTSA is tied for the individual lead heading into Tuesday's 18-holes of play following rounds of 70-69, with Sam Houston's David Ward. Ward fired an opening round 66 then followed with a 73 in the afternoon. SFA's J.P. Landry is third heading into tomorrow's final round after rounds of 69-71 to stand at four under par, 140. There were three holes-in-one on day with SFA's Jeremy Ice recording a hole-in-one on the 185-yard fourteenth hole. Ice shot a 74 in the opening round with the ace. The tournament concludes with 18-holes of play beginning Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. with tee times on the first and tenth holes.
