    MANY, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team finished 10th after the first round of competition Sunday afternoon at the Battle on the Bend in Many, La. The three-day, three-round tournament is being played at Cypress Bend Golf Club, and is being hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.

    The Lumberjacks shot a 26-over par 314 in the opening round to finish the day 10th overall, only four strokes back of Texas-Pan American. SFA enters Monday's second round only 16 strokes back of the leader Texas-San Antonio, who shot a 298 to outpace Baylor by a stroke. Individual scores were not available at press time.

    SFA will return to Cypress Bend Monday morning for the second round of action at the Battle on the Bend. The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes Tuesday morning.
