    CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 75-62, Sunday afternoon at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi. With the loss, the Ladyjacks fall to 6-5 (.545) on the season.

    SFA was 24-of-60 (.400) and out shot the Islanders who finished the game 23-of-58 (.397), but Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was dominant from beyond the three-point arc hitting 9-of-24 (.375) shots. Five Islander players finished the game in double figures, led by Lindsey Van Dorn who led all scorers with 16 points. Junior LaToya Mills led the Ladyjacks with her 15 points and eight rebounds.

    The Ladyjacks were also hurt by turnovers as they were forced into 22. The Islanders converted those turnovers into 22 points. SFA forced Corpus Christi into 21 miscues, but the Islander defense minimized the damage allowing only 12 points to be scored off the turnovers.

    Sophomore Jennifer Simpson came off the bench to score 11 points, grab four rebounds, dish out three assists and record three steals in 23 minutes of action.

    The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday night when they open Southland Conference play against Northwestern State. The game against the Lady Demons is slated to begin at 8:15 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
