    ARLINGTON, Texas - A week and a half of redemption continued for the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks, avenging an earlier season home loss with a 59-54 victory at UT Arlington Wednesday evening at the new College Park Center.

    SFA (17-7, 7-4) got a game-high 14-point effort from a hobbled Tammara Marion as well as 10 points from senior Amina Sawyer. The Ladyjacks limited the Mavericks to just 22 points in the all-important second half and 29 percent shooting from the floor.

    UTA (5-18, 3-8) did not have a player score in double digits and committed 24 costly turnovers.

    The Ladyjacks got a bit revenge against the Mavericks after UTA handed SFA only their second home loss of the season back on Jan. 21 (69-61).

    In a back and forth affair the entire evening, SFA led 54-53 with just under a minute remaining when freshman Porsha Roberts was fouled and earned a trip to the charity stripe. Up until that point held scoreless, Roberts sank both free throws to give the Ladyjacks a 56-53 edge.

    UTA would not make a field goal the rest of the way, missing their next three shots and the Ladyjacks converted three more free throws to claim the 59-54 victory.

    Marion had tweaked her ankle with five minutes remaining but managed to re-enter around the 2:30 mark and made a critical bank shot to give SFA a four-point lead at the time.

    In the first half SFA shot well from the field but still entered the locker room trailing 32-31 at halftime. In the first 20 minutes freshman Tierany Henderson gave the Ladyjacks a spark with two three-pointers.

    Marion got off to a quick start, scoring seven of the Ladyjacks first 15 points in the early going. SFA was also helped out by 14 first-half turnovers by UTA.

    The Ladyjacks return to the hardwood this Saturday, Feb. 18 when they host Texas State at 4 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the Lumberjacks.
