NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin State University Ladyjack basketball team opened the 2000 season today with a win over the Houston Jaguars in an exhibition game. The Ladyjacks won 80-73 over the Jaguars.

Four former Stephen F. Austin players were in action for the Jaguars. Those players included Anitra Davis, Tekeniesha Henry, Stephanie Whitmore and Shawnta Johnson.

The Ladyjacks were led by senior Tami Rater with 17 points and junior Lashinda Winters with 19 points. Winters also had five steals for the game. Sophomore Nathesia Wright was a force under the basket with five offensive and four defensive rebounds.

The Ladyjacks will be back in action Thursday, November 9, as they face the Russian team Spartak-Moscow. Game time will begin at 7:00 PM. Twins Jessica and Nicole Guild will be honored as they are presented their national championship rings they won last season when they played at Tyler Junior College.
