SFA (3-0) was led by their two post players, Amina Sawyer and Porsha Roberts, both of whom collected double-doubles. Sawyer scored a team and game-high 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds while Roberts recorded the first double-double of her career with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
The Ladyjacks managed to win despite shooting only 21 percent (16-of-74) from the field while Wiley College shot 43 percent (22-of-51). The difference in the game came on the defensive end for SFA, where they forced the Lady Wildcats into 31 turnovers of which they scored 26 points off of.
Perhaps the play of the game came with 32 seconds remaining in the contest and with SFA clinging to a 55-52 lead, Tierany Henderson hit a critical jumper with the shot clock winding down to give the Ladyjacks a 57-52 advantage.
After both teams exchanged free throws, Wiley's Kayla Brown scored on a driving layup to cut SFA's lead to 59-57 with only five seconds remaining. However, the Ladyjacks ran their out of bounds play to perfection allowing Tammara Marion to catch the ball on the run and dribble out the clock.
Wiley College (4-1) was led in scoring by both Alieshia Carruthers and Jasmine Charles, both scoring 13 points. For the first time this season SFA's bench was outscored, this time by a margin of 28-10.
With the victory, SFA improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
The Ladyjacks will now hit the road for the Southern Miss Thanksgiving Tournament, Nov. 25-26 beginning with a showdown against Georgia Southern on Nov. 25 at 2:30 p.m.
