Mills Named SLC Player of the Week
Jan. 9, 2006 PLANO, Texas - Senior forward LaToya Mills was named Southland Conference Player of the Week announced league officials Monday afternoon. It is the first time this season, and the second time in her career that Mills has been named the SLC Player of the Week. Mills guided the Ladyjacks to consecutive victories in the opening week of conference play defeating Nicholls State, 80-59, and Southeastern Louisiana, 83-48. Mills averaged 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds for the two games, while shooting 63 percent from the field. She posted a season-high 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the victory over Nicholls State, marking the fourth time this season and the 24th time in her career that she has recorded a double-double. Mills currently leads the league in field-goal percentage (58 percent), is second in scoring (18.3 ppg), and rebounding (7.8 rpg) and is fourth in steals (2.5 spg). The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday when they travel to Beaumont, Texas to face Lamar. The game against the Lady Cardinals is slated to begin at 7 p.m. -SFA- |
