Ladyjacks to Face Lamar in SLC Tournament

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - With the 2008-09 regular-season in the books, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks enter the 2009 State Farm Southland Conference Championships as the fifth seed. The Ladyjacks went 15-13 (.536) overall, and 10-6 (.625) in conference play. SFA enters the tournament having won seven of its last 10 games.
The 2009 tournament marks the second consecutive season the Ladyjacks enter the as the league's No. 5 overall seed. It will also mark the fifth consecutive season SFA will face Lamar in the opening round of the tournament. The fourth-seeded Lady Cardinals (19-10/10-6 SLC) enter the tournament having lost three of their final four games. Wednesday's game is slated to tip off at 8:30 p.m. from the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
If the Ladyjacks advance to the semifinals, they will face the winner of the top-seeded Texas-Arlington and eighth-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The game between the Lady Mavs and Islanders is slated to begin at 6 p.m. The other side of the bracket will consist of third-seeded Southeastern Louisiana against sixth-seeded Northwestern State (Noon), and No. 2 seed Texas-San Antonio will face No. 7 seed McNeese State (2:30 p.m.).
