Riley Selected to Coach WBCA All-Stars
March 26, 2002
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack first-year head coach Lee Ann Riley will be in attendance at the NCAA Women's Final Four, not as a spectator, but as a coach.
Riley has been selected to coach in the WBCA All-Star Challenge Saturday in San Antonio, Texas, during the Final Four. The team will be composed of the nation's top college seniors. The WBCA All-Stars will take on the USA National team Saturday at 4 p.m.
Riley led the Ladyjacks to a 24-6 (.800) overall record and a 19-1 league mark. The 19 league wins set a Southland Conference record for wins in a season and the 24 overall victories tied Riley for the most wins by an SFA first-year head coach (Mary Ann Otwell in 1980-81). The Ladyjacks advanced to the NCAA Championships, before being eliminated by Texas Tech in the first round.
