    NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack and Ladyjack basketball teams officially begin the 2003-04 season Friday Oct. 17th with the sixth annual Midnight Mardi Gras. The event will begin at 11 p.m., in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.

    MavsMan, of the NBA' Dallas Mavericks, will be on hand to entertain fans with high-flying acrobatic dunks. Champ, another Mavericks' mascot will also be at the event. Students will have the opportunity to win free tuition for the spring semester as well as other prizes and giveaways.

    The highlight of the night will be at midnight when the Lumberjack and Ladyjack basketball teams take the floor to kick off the upcoming season. Both basketball teams are coming off a Southland Conference runner-up finish last season.

    Admission to Midnight Mardi Gras is free.
