Mustangs FOR STARTERS: The Ladyjacks wrap up a season-long six-game roadtrip this Wednesday evening when they travel to Dallas to take on SMU for a second straight season. SFA leads the all-time series (9-5) and defeated the Mustangs, 66-60 last season at Moody Coliseum (12/30/11) LAST TIME OUT: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks suffered their third straight loss in a 60-41 setback to the Rice Owls Saturday afternoon at Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice held the Ladyjacks (4-5) to a season-low in points, matching their output at Oklahoma State, and just 27 percent shooting from the field. THE MUSTANGS: SMU is coming off a 76-56 win over ULM Monday evening in Dallas. Junior transfer Keena Mays scored 23 points along with 11 rebounds in her first game at SMU. The Mustangs have won four of their last five outings and bring a 7-2 overall record into play on Wednesday. SMU is holding their opponents to only 54.3 points per game and just 34 percent shooting from the field. ROBERTS LEADING THE WAY: Despite a few struggles of late, sophomore center Porsha Roberts is eighth in the Soutland Conference in scoring, averaging 13.3 PPG. The reigning SLC Freshman of the Year and is also seventh in rebounding (7.1 RPG). PRESEASON PICKS: SFA was picked to finish second in the Southland Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and fourth in the Sports Information Directors Poll. UP NEXT: The Ladyjacks finally return home on Dec. 30 to face Tulsa at 2 p.m. in the non-conference finale before opening Southland Conference play on Jan. 3 when they host Lamar at 5:30 p.m. -SFA- | |||||||||
