Parkhurst Falls In Opening Round Of USBC Intercollegiate Singles

LINCOLN, Nebraska - Stephen F. Austin sophomore Nicole Parkhurst was defeated in the first round of the 2012 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships Tuesday morning at the Sun Valley Lanes.
Parkhurst, who was recently named a 2012 NTCA All-American honorable mention, was slotted as the number No. 10 seed against Arizona State's Jordeen Koizumi (No. 15). Koizumi defeated Parkhurst (544-512) in three games to advance to round two.
The Ladyjacks (62-48), who finished the regular season ranked No. 10 in the NTCA National Poll, will be among 15 other teams in the nation competing for a national championship at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships April 19-21.
The teams will bowl 24 games of Baker qualifying to determine seeding for the double-elimination Baker match-play bracket. In match play, teams will bowl best-of-seven matches.
Other schools competing will be Calumet, Florida State, Kutztown, Lindenwood, Maryland Eastern Shore, McKendree, Midland, Newman, Pikeville, Robert Morris-Illinois, Webber International, West Texas A&M, Wichita State, William Penn and Wright State.
