No. 10 Bowling Opens Season Friday At Tulane
Oct. 17, 2012 NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The No. 10 Stephen F. Austin women's bowling team opens its fourth season of play this weekend when the Ladyjacks travel to Kenner, La., for the Tulane Invitational. The three-day tournament will start on Friday, Oct. 19, thru Sunday, Oct. 21. The tournament will feature 12 schools and five nationally ranked teams, including preseason No. 2 Arkansas State, No. 8 Sam Houston State, No. 17 Prairie View A&M and No. 18 Bethune-Cookman. “We are ready to get the season started," SFA head coach Amber Lemke said. "We didn’t graduate anyone so we are looking to building on our successful season last year. The ladies are ready to get on the lanes and get our season started. This is the first time that Tulane has held the Tulane Invite and we are looking forward to starting our season off on a high note in New Orleans." Results will be available at www.tulanegreenwave.com after each day. Last year the Ladyjacks finished with a 62-48 record and were ranked No. 10 in the nation at season's end, the highest ranking in school history. SFA finished the season by placing third at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships. Lemke returns eight bowlers from a year ago and welcomes in two freshman, Melanie Crawford and Stephanie Sims. In addition to the Tulane Collegiate Bowling Invitational, the Ladyjacks will compete in at least six other tournaments throughout the season that spans from October to March, which includes: Fairleigh Dickinson University Jamboree, Nov. 2-4, Elmwood Park, NJ Tulane Invitational Schedule Friday, October 19th, 2012 Saturday, October 20th, 2012 Sunday, October 21st, 2012 |
