SFA Sets Equestrian Try-out Dates

NACOGDOCHES - Try-outs for the 2005-06 Ladyjack Equestrian team will be held Sept. 12-13, at the Equine Center located at the Walter C. Todd Agricultural Research Center on Highway 259, North of Nacogdoches. Any students who wish to compete on the 2005-06 team must attend a mandatory meeting at 7 p.m., on Aug. 30, in the ready room of the SFA Athletic Fieldhouse, which located at the north end of Homer Bryce Stadium.

To be eligible for try-outs students are required to be full-time status at the university, must complete a training room walk-a-round form and provide a Proof of Medical Insurance at the Aug. 30th meeting. Prospective student-athletes are reminded of appropriate dress for the events including riding shoes with heels and cover ankles. Loose clothing and chaps are considered inappropriate dress for English riders.

Riders will be expected to ride multiple horses in either Hunter Seat Equitation or Western Reining/Horsemanship. Student-athletes can also expect a weekly commitment of at least 20 hours per week between meetings, workouts and competition.
