Ladyjacks Finish 11th at Islander Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The weather-shortened Islander Spring Classic saw the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack golf team fire a 321 on the final day of the tournament. The SFA women improved their opening day score by nine strokes Tuesday afternoon on the 6,093-yard, par-72 Corpus Christi Country Club course, but fell three places in the overall standings. The Ladyjacks finished the tournament with a two-round score of 330-321 - 651. Teams were able to complete only one round of play Monday due to wind gusts of up to 60 mph, forcing the tournament to be final after 36 holes. Junior Aliece Anderson posted an 81-80-161 to lead SFA. Anderson finished the tournament 31st overall. Freshman Sydney Reed was only a stroke back of Anderson finishing tied for 32nd with a 162. Senior Chelsea Simmons and freshman Mackenzie Steiner recorded a 164 to finish tied for 40th overall. Junior Sara Jones closed out the SFA scoring with an 87-85-172 to place 65th overall. The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday, Mar. 3, to compete in the Kiawah Island Classic in Charleston, S.C.
