Ladyjacks Record Program Bests on Opening Day

MONROE, La. - The Stephen F. Austin women's golf team fired a program-best round of 308 in the opening round of the ULM/Fred Marx Invitational Monday morning in Monroe, La. The Ladyjacks came right back in the second round to better that mark by five strokes and are currently eight heading into Tuesday's final round. The Ladyjacks were led by their freshmen with two rookies finishing the day in the overall top three. Julia Bazaldua leads the way with a five-over par 149. Bazaldua enters Tuesday final round of 18 tied for 12th overall. Junior Aliece Anderson is tied for 35th after firing a 154. Anderson was one of three Ladyjacks to finish the day with a 154. Freshman Mackenzie Steiner recorded consecutive 77 rounds, while junior Chelsea Simmons fired a 79-75. Junior Rose Marie Henderson struggled in the opening round with an 81, but cut three strokes from her opening round to close out the day finishing the day tied for 59th with a 159. The Ladyjacks finished the day with three rounds of 75 or lower, and only had one round over 80.
