Ladyjacks Finish Tied for Eighth at ULM

MONROE, La. - The Stephen F. Austin women's golf team fired a 308-303-313 - 924 to finish tied for eighth at the 2012 ULM/Fred Marx Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Monroe, La. The Ladyjacks recorded three of the top-six rounds in program history, including the top two, at the season-opening tournament. The Ladyjacks were led by senior Chelsea Simmons, but had two freshmen finish among the team's overall top three. Simmons fired a two-over 74 on the final day of the tournament to finish tied for 20th with a 228. Freshman Julia Bazaldua struggled in the final round posting her highest score, but was only one stroke back of Simmons (229/T23rd). Freshman Mackenzie Steiner was consistent throughout all three rounds. She finished the day with a 79 closing out the tournament tied for 37th with a 233. Junior Aliece Anderson and Rose Marie Henderson closed out the SFA scoring. Anderson finished the day with an 81, and was tied for 48th overall with a 235. Henderson was four strokes back with a 239 (T57th). SFA freshmen Sydney Reed and Amanda Mire competed as individuals in Monroe. Reed recorded a 79-83-82 - 244 to finish tied for 68th, while Mire was tied for 73rd with an 84-80-81 - 245.
