EDMOND, Okla. - After having their season opener rained out, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack golf team final got their inaugural season under way Monday morning at the Cheddar's UCO Classic in Edmond, Okla. The Ladyjacks shot a 320 in the opening round from the par-70, Lincoln Park East Course, to finish the day 11th overall. The Ladyjacks trail Northeastern State, Henderson State and Harding University by only five strokes.

SFA had two players tie for the team's lowest round led by freshmen Wallis Spears and Chelsea Simmons. The duo finished the day with a 78 to finish tied for 23rd overall. After struggling to an eight-over on the front nine, Simmons settled down on the back nine to shoot even par on the final nine (43-35 - 78).

Junior Noelle Willcoxen enters the final day of competition only one stroke back of Spears and Simmons. Willcoxen finished the day with a 40-39 - 79, and is currently tied for 35th overall. Freshman Erin Daurity is currently tied for 82nd overall with an 85, while classmate Allison Flake is only one stroke back of Daurity (42-44 - 86).

The Ladyjacks return to action Tuesday for the final day of the UCO Classic. The final round is slated to begin at 8 a.m.
