Highlanders Shutout SFA Ladyjacks held to only six shots
EL PASO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team lost to UC Riverside, 6-0, Sunday to close out the Texas-El Paso tournament. The Ladyjacks are 2-5 on the season.
The Highlanders got on the scoreboard quickly when Lisa Jensen netted the games first goal only a minute and 48 seconds into the contest. But the Ladyjacks settled down after that holding the score at 1-0 for the rest of the half.
UCR opened the second half in similar fashion to the first, scoring a goal only 3:27 into the half. Jensen netted the games third goal in the 62nd minute of the contest, and then the floodgates opened, as UCR scored three more goals within the next 14 minutes.
The Highlanders tough defense plagued SFA all day, as the Ladyjacks were only able to attempt six shots.
The Ladyjacks return to action Tuesday when they open Southland Conference play against McNeese State. The game is slated to get underway at 7 p.m., from Homer Bryce Stadium.
