Frias Steps Down as SFA Soccer Coach

Jan. 14, 2008

Stephen F. Austin head soccer coach Jaime Frias has resigned his position at SFA to take over the women's soccer program at Nevada announced UN officials early Monday afternoon. Frias was the Ladyjacks' fifth head coach in the program's 13-year history.

"Jaime Frias is one of the rising coaching stars in soccer," said SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill. "We have been very fortunate to have him as our head coach for the past three seasons. Our job is to now go out and find a replacement to carry on the winning tradition."

A former Southland Conference Coach of the Year, Frias guided the Ladyjacks to a 36-17-3 (.667) overall record, including a 19-3-2 (.833) mark in league games during his time in Nacogdoches. SFA recorded two SLC regular-season titles under Frias, and recorded the first undefeated, untied season in conference history.

The Ladyjacks went 13-5-2 (.700) this past season, and won the SLC regular-season title with a 7-1-1 (.833) record. Frias' troops also won the 2007 SLC tournament title, to advance to the NCAA Championships for the second time in school history.

SFA will immediately begin a national search to find a replacement.
