Ladyjack Soccer Inks Five

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team signed Kristel Lindsey (Houston, Texas), Caitlin O'Brien (Spring, Texas), Stephanie Prentice (Mansfield, Texas), Laura Roderick (Lake Jackson, Texas) and Keyli Townsend (Georgetown, Texas) to National Letters of Intent announced SFA head coach Nicole Nelson Wednesday afternoon.
"We are very excited about our 2004 signing class," said Nelson. "This incoming class will add strength and depth in some areas that we needed. These young ladies will compliment the strong core of returning players that are already here."
Lindsey is a 5-5 forward/midfielder who will give the Ladyjacks an added scoring threat. She graduates Jersey Village as the school's all-time leading scorer. She was a three-time all-district athlete who was twice named offensive MVP. Lindsey was member of the Hurricanes and Texas Premier club teams, who was also named to the 2002 and 2003 Olympic Development Program state pool.
O'Brien makes her way to Nacogdoches by way of the Challenge club team in Houston, Texas. O'Brien helped guide the Challenge to the state title in three consecutive seasons. O'Brien led her Klein High School team to a regional semi-final appearance and back-to-back bi-district championships. She was a team captain who was twice named first-team all-district.
Prentice is a 5-1 midfielder who can also play at the forward position. Prentice brings nine years of club experience with her, having played for the Image and Fort Worth United. Prentice led her Mansfield High School team to three consecutive district titles. She was named team captain her senior year and earned all-district honors.
Roderick has spent the previous five seasons with the Eclipse '86 club team. She was a member of the STYSA Olympic Development Program for four seasons. Roderick guided her Brazoswood High School team to back-to-back District 24-5A titles, earning all-district and defensive MVP honors. She earned all-state defensive team honors in 2003. Roderick is the younger sister of current Ladyjack, Sarah Roderick.
Townsend is a 5-4 defender/midfielder from Georgetown, Texas, who played for the Warriors club team. She netted 20 goals in her career while earning all-district honors in three consecutive seasons. Townsend earned all-state honors last season. She was named newcomer of the year as a freshman.
