Crittenden Announces 2013 Signing Class

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin first-year head coach Wally Crittenden and the back-to-back reigning Southland Conference champion Ladyjacks announced on Wednesday an eight-player signing class for the 2013 season. All eight players are prep recruits and all are Texans who played for some of the top club teams in the state.
The 2013 class consists of Meghan Corder (F, McNeil HS, Lonestar SC), Kelly Ann Craig (F/M, Stratford HS, Albion Hurricanes 95 ECNL), Amanda Doyle (MF, Hebron HS, Sting 95 ECNL), Brooke Dunnigan (CB, Vista Ridge HS, Lonestar 95 ECNL), Lillie Ehlert (GK, Pflugerville HS, Lonestar 95 ECNL), Hailey Hunt (F, McKinney Boyd HS, Solar-Chelsea), Kara Marshall (F, Kingwood HS, Space City Football Club '95) and Jasmine White (Jersey Village HS, Albion Hurricanes 95 ECNL).
"The 2013 signing class is a very special one for the program as we continue to move forward," Crittenden said Wednesday. "The clubs that each of these players represent are great organizations that teach their players to compete with similar values to what we have established as the foundation for our future success. Each of these players have made a significant impact on their respective teams and I anticipate they will come into our program motivated to contribute right away both on, and off, the field. I look forward to getting to know each of them over the coming months and am excited to extend a warm welcome to the newest additions to our SFA Ladyjack Soccer family."
Corder, a forward from McNeil High School, was a two-time all-district first-team selection and a second-team selection her freshman season. Corder was also a three-time academic all-district selection and played club for the Lonestar 95 ECNL under coaches James Armstrong and Don Cameron. Corder was part of a squad that was an ECNL National Finalist in 2010 and Region III champions in 2010 and 2011.
Craig, a forward/mid from Stratford HS, was a 2013 Houston Chronicle preseason All-Greater Houston selection and in 2012 was named to the 4A first-team all-region, Texas District 42-4A first-team and Houston Chronicle preseason All-Greater Houston team. In 2011 Craig was selected the Texas District 42-4A MVP and was a first-team all-district selection as well as a Houston Chronicle second-team All-Greater Houston. As a freshman Craig was named the Texas District 18-5A Offensive MVP and wrapped up her career with 83 goals and 31 assists. Craig played club for the Albion Hurricanes FC-95G ECNL.
Doyle, a center mid/F from Hebron High School, was the starting center-mid for the 2012 State Cup champions where she also ran cross-country. Doyle also played club for Sting 95 ECNL for coaches Jeremy Halverson and Trini Borunda.
Dunnigan, a center back from Vista Ridge High School, is the younger sister of current SFA first-team defender Megan Dunnigan. While at Vista Ridge Dunnigan was part of a team that was regional champions and state finalists and was a first-team all-state selection. Dunnigan was also named a Freshman of the Year. She played club for Lonestar 95 ECNL where she was a team captain for four years and made the ECNL All-Tournament Team.
Ehlert, a goalkeeper from Pflugerville High School, was a first-team all-district selection her junior and senior year while also being named to the academic all-district teams all four years. Ehlert was an honorable all-district nominee her freshman and sophomore seasons. She also played club for Lonestar 95 ECNL.
Hunt, a forward from McKinney Boyd High School, played two years of varsity soccer and was named captain her senior season. She played club ball with Solar-Chelsea 96 ECNL where she was named to the All-Event Team for San Antonio in 2012.
Marshall, a forward from Kingwood High School, was named to the All-Greater Houston Preseason 2013 Team following a 2012 season in which she was named the Player of the Year and an all-district selection. Prior to another all-district season in 2011, Marshall was a 2010 all-district selection as well as the district's Newcomer of the Year. She played club for the Space City Football Club 95 team where she was part of a squad that in 2012 was a regional champion, state champion and Disney Showcase champion.
White, a defender from Jersey Village HS, was an all-district selection from 2010-2012 and a 2012 academic all-district first-teamer. White played club ball for the Albion Hurricanes 95 ECNL from 2012-13 and the Cy-Fair Dynamos 95 from 2005-11. In 2011 the Dynamos were the Region III Premier League West Champions.
The Ladyjacks will be losing an elite senior class comprised of six student-athletes to graduation, which included three-time Southland Conference Player of the Year midfielder Kylie Louw, two-time SLC first-team midfielder Laura Sadler, two-time SLC first-team defender Breanne Vernon, SLC second-team defender Leslie Shurtleff, forward Becky Johnson and midfielder Abby Susman. They return four SLC first-teamers and 13 letter-winners.
