SFA Soccer Opens Home Schedule

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team (0-2) looks for its first victory of the season Friday night when it opens the home portion of the 2003 schedule against Tennessee-Martin. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from the SFA Intramural Complex. The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday when they travel to Shreveport, La., to take on Centenary. The game against the Ladies is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Looking for Lightning to Strike Twice: The Ladyjack soccer team is hoping history will repeat itself. Last season, the Ladyjacks faced Tennessee-Martin early in the season looking for their first victory of the season. SFA knocked off the Skyhawks in the game, 2-1.
A Look Back at the Ladies: SFA and Centenary met last season in Nacogdoches, with SFA earning a 1-0 victory. The Ladyjacks' Sarah Johnson netted the game-winning goal at the 22:48 mark of the first half.
The SFA Record Books: There are numerous current Ladyjacks whose names can be found throughout the school's singles-season and all-time top 10. Sophomore Kendra Cannon is the school's single-season and all-time leader in points, goals and is eighth in assists. Cannon also holds the second-best mark for assists in a season. Junior Christie Mestayer is the school's all-time leader in assists and among the school's top 10 in points and goals. Junior Sarah Johnson's name can be found on the SFA points and goals top-10 chart. Sophomore Natascia Michalezki is third all-time in school history with 168 saves. She set a school record last season with 154 saves.
Up Next... The Ladyjacks return home to kickoff a six-game homestand against North Texas. The game against the Lady Eagles is set to begin Wednesday Sept. 10th at 7 p.m., from the SFA Intramural Complex.
