NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (6-2-0) will wrap up non-conference play this weekend with a home match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday, followed by a road trip to Waco, Texas on Sunday for a showdown against the No. 25 Baylor Bears.
Last Time Out: Stephen F. Austin senior midfielder Kylie Louw provided the heroics Friday evening by scoring the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to lead the Ladyjacks to a 1-0 victory over Texas State. Louw’s goal, her second of the season and 22nd of her career, marked the second straight season that the South Africa native scored a game-winner at Texas State for a 1-0 victory.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff Series History/Scouting Report: Friday will mark just the second ever meeting between SFA and Arkansas-Pine Bluff with the lone meeting coming on Sept. 26, 2010 when the Ladyjacks won 2-1 in Arkansas. The Golden Lions (1-9-0) and have been outscored 44-5. Junior center midfielder has scored three of UAPB’s five goals. Neither Alyssa Cobbs (27 GA) or Kristy Martinez (14 GA) have had much success thus far at the net and as a team the Golden Lions are allowing 5.18 goals per game.
Baylor Series History/Scouting Report: The Ladyjacks are 1-2-0 all-time against Baylor, having won the last meeting 1-0 on August 28, 2005 in Waco. The Bears (8-1-1) are one of the elite teams in the country this season and were recently ranked No. 25 in the nation in the NSCAA national rankings. This will mark the first time in Tony Amato’s era that the Ladyjacks will play a Top-25 program. Baylor has outscored their opponents 28-4, led by six goals from senior forward Dana Larsen, and currently have the 15th-best scoring offense in the country (2.8 GPG). Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Kloss has allowed just four goals in 10 contests and has a 8-1-1 individual record in helping the Bears to the nation’s 8th-best goals against average (0.391).

Ladyjacks Remain 7th in NSCAA Central Poll: For a third consecutive week SFA remains ranked No. 7 in the newest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women’s Central Poll. SFA (6-2-0) is coming off a week in which they defeated Texas State, 1-0, in a rematch of the 2011 Southland Conference Tournament Championship.
Defense Getting It Done: The Ladyjacks have allowed just three goals combined in their first eight games, the fewest of any team in the Southland Conference thus far. SFA has recorded six shutouts and currently boasts the 3rd-best shutout percentage (0.75) in the nation and are 5th-best in goals-against average (0.375).
Louw A National Leader: Senior midfielder Kylie Louw currently is third in the nation in both total assists (7) and assists per game (0.88). Louw collected six total points (4 assists, 1 goal) and set the SFA all-time, single-game assists record in SFA’s 8-0 win at Jackson State on 8/19.
Kylie Named SLC Offensive Player of the Week: Stephen F. Austin senior midfielder Kylie Louw was selected the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, league official announced on Tuesday. Louw scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute against Texas State to lead the Ladyjacks to a 1-0 victory last Friday.
Home Is Where The Wins Are: SFA holds an all-time record of 90-36-12 in home games, but that mark is even better at the current venue. Since moving from Homer Bryce Stadium to the SFA Soccer Complex for the 2003 season, the Ladyjacks are 59-9-5 in home contests. Against Southland Conference foes, SFA is a very tough 34-4-3 at the Soccer Complex.
Nine Wins: With their win over Northwestern State on 10/9/11, SFA clinched yet another season with at least nine wins and another winning season. It marked the ninth consecutive season for the Ladyjacks to pick up at least nine victories and was the program’s eighth straight winning season. The last time an SFA squad failed to reach the nine-win plateau was 2002, also the last time the Ladyjacks posted a losing season (7-9-4).
Title Town: The SFA women’s soccer program has brought an unprecedented six Southland Conference regular-season championships back to Nacogdoches. That total is nearly half of the 14 possible regular-season titles in SLC Soccer history.
