    PLANO, Texas - Sophomore Christie Mestayer (Houston, Texas) was named Southland Conference defensive player of the week announced the league office Tuesday afternoon.

    Mestayer was a huge reason for the Ladyjacks going 2-1 in the first three games of a four-game homestand. Mestayer netted the game-winning goal in a 6-0 shutout over Louisiana-Monroe Sunday afternoon at Homer Bryce Stadium. The goal was Mestayer's first of the season.

    The Ladyjacks return to action Wednesday against Centenary. The match against the Ladies is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from Homer Bryce Stadium.
