Ladyjacks Shutout Nicholls State

THIBODAUX, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team rolled into Thibodaux, La., Sunday afternoon and picked up a 2-0 victory over the Colonels. The Ladyjacks improve to 6-8-0 (.429) overall and 3-3-0 (.500) in the Southland Conference.
In a game that was dominated by the defenses, the two teams entered the locker room at halftime with the score knotted at 0. The defenses continued to dominate the game until the 66th minute when sophomore Christie Mestayer (Houston, Texas) scored the games first goal.
The Ladyjacks were back on the attack less than seven minutes later when Mestayer netted her second goal of the game. The Ladyjacks held the Nicholls State offense in check all afternoon allowing only five shots. The Colonels got three shots on goal but freshman goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki (Calgary, Alberta) was up to the challenge stopping every one.
The Ladyjacks return to the friendly confines of Homer Bryce Stadium to kickoff a three-game homestand. SFA will open the homestand Friday against Southeastern Louisiana. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
