Ladyjacks Land Two On All-Academic First Team

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin sophomore defender Megan Dunnigan and senior midfielder Kylie Louw were each named to the 2012 Capital One All-Academic Soccer District VII First Team announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Dunnigan, a native of Round Rock, Texas (Vista Ridge HS), is a Biology major with a grade point average of 4.00. Dunnigan receives her first academic award just days after being named to the Southland Conference first-team. She has helped anchor a Ladyjack defense that has registered 13 shutouts and is second in the nation in shutout percentage (0.722).
This marks the second consecutive year that Louw has been named to a Capital One All-Academic after landing on the second-team in 2011. Louw is currently in graduate school and is majoring in Kinesiology where she has a 3.78 GPA. A native of Discovery, South Africa, Louw was just named the SLC Player of the Year for a conference record third consecutive time. She finished the regular season leading the league in assists (12), second in points (26), third in points per game (1.53) and seventh in goals (7). Louw also ended the regular season first in the nation assists per game (0.75) and second in total assists.
The Capital One Academic All-District VII Team is comprised of nominees from NCAA Division I soccer teams from Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. Nominees must have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA to make the College Sports Information Directors of America all-district ballot, which is voted upon by CoSIDA members throughout the district.
The Ladyjacks (15-3-0, 8-0-0) will play Oral Roberts Friday, Nov. 2 in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament on the campus of McNeese State in Lake Charles, La. at 4:30 p.m. They will be trying to win their third SLC Tournament in school history.
