SFA To Face Texas A&M In NCAA Tournament

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The 64-team field was announced for the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament on Monday and the newly crowned Southland Conference Tournament champion Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks will face No. 12 Texas A&M Friday, November 9 at 7 p.m. in College Station, Texas at Ellis Field.
"We are very excited to be one of the 64 teams in the national tournament and have a great opportunity to play at one of the best college soccer venues in the country," SFA head coach Tony Amato said. "Our players have been consistently focused all season and we will have the same approach this week. I know we feel good about being in the NCAA's, but the goal now is to play well and advance. I am looking forward to the match and know our team will be ready to meet the challenge head on."
The winner of the SFA/Texas A&M match would face the winner of Ohio State (16-4-1)/Oakland (11-5-3) on the campus of Florida State on either Nov. 16 or 18.
This marks the second time that SFA (17-3) will face the Aggies (17-4-1) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, having previously faced Texas A&M in the first round in 2007 where they fell 4-1. SFA also played in College Station in the 2003 NCAA Tournament where they lost 3-0 to No. 12 Duke.
The Ladyjacks are coming off their third-ever SLC Tournament title after beating Lamar 2-1 last Sunday in Lake Charles, La. SFA will enter Friday riding a 10-game win streak and winners of 13 of their last 14 matches.
Texas A&M is coming off a 2-0 loss to Auburn in the SEC Tournament semifinals. The Aggies have outscored their opponents 44-12 this season and had four players earn All-SEC honors.
Friday's game will be video streamed for free on NCAA.com and at AggieAthletics.com.
Tickets are available for pre-sale online at www.aggieathletics.com or by calling the Texas A&M Athletic Ticket Office at 1-888-99-AGGIE. Ticket offices are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be bought in person at the athletic ticket office located in the Bernard C. Richardson Zone (North end zone) of Kyle Field or the Reed Arena Box Office. If requested, tickets ordered by phone can be picked up at Ellis Field Will Call window on the day of the game.
Ticket prices will be priced as following: West Reserved Midfield ($18), West Reserved Sideline ($15), West Reserved Goal Line ($9), General Admission Adult ($7), General Admission Youth ($4), General Student ($4). Children under two will be admitted free in accordance with regular season venue policy.
