The SFA softball (4-18) dropped both ends of a doubleheader on a bitterly cold afternoon in Austin, Tuesday. SFA lost game one by a 7-0 score and dropped the nightcap by a 9-2 final.

UT pitcher Cat Osterman threw a perfect game against SFA in the opening game of the twinbill, going the distance, not allowing a baserunner, while striking out 15 SFA batters. Traci Moore (2-7) took the loss for SFA as she worked 4.0 innings and gave up five runs on six hits. Kristin Nolan came on in relief, working two innings and giving up a pair of runs on four hits. SFA committed one error in the opener.

The 'Jacks found some offense in game two as they scored two runs in the second inning by utilizing a pair of two out walks, a hit batsman and an RBI single off the bat of Meryl McGuire. The threat ended when Mimi Van Ryn, who had walked earlier in the inning was thrown out at home trying to score on McGuire's single.

Texas (13-6) responded to four runs in the bottom of the inning to regain control of the game and go on to the 9-2 win. Kristin Nolan (0-6) took the loss, working 3.0 innings, giving up all nine runs on 11 hits. She also walked a batter and struck out one.

Cat Osterman (8-4) came on in relief of starter Natalie King who was lifted in the third inning and picked up her second win of the night.

SFA opens the home portion of its schedule this Saturday afternoon at the Coy Simms Softball Complex, playing host to Southwest Texas in the SLC opener for both teams. Game one of the scheduled doubleheader is set to get under way at 1:00 p.m.
