Final Stats

The SFA softball team fell to 5-29 on the season Thursday afternoon with two losses to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (20-19) by scores of 10-2 and 5-0. SFA returns to Southland Conference action Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader against UT-San Antonio beginning at 1:00 p.m.

SFA scored two runs in the first inning, chasing starting pitcher Amanda Burton after only one-third of an inning. However, Dani Damel came on and allowed only four more hits and no runs the rest of the way to pick up the win.

Third baseman Ragen Rutherford was three for three in game one, and SS Mimi Van Ryn went 1-2 on the afternoon with an RBI and a run scored.

Game two saw A&M-Corpus pick away at the 'Jacks scoring single runs in the first, second and sixth innings, and adding a pair of runs in the third inning for the 5-0 victory. The 'Jacks managed only two hits in game two, both by second baseman Meryl McGuire.

Traci Moore (2-11) went the distance for SFA, allowing the five runs on nine hits.
