Softball Drops Final Game Of Nicholls State Series.

An error by shortstop Jessica Tullos in the bottom of the seventh inning Sunday allowed two unearned runs to score and gave Nicholls State (13-24, 8-10) a 5-4 win in the third game of a three game series with the SFA Ladyjacks (12-21, 4-14).
Both teams scored three runs in the second inning and the scored remained tied 3-3 until the top of the fifth inning when SFA scored a run to take a 4-3 lead. Carrie Woydziak tripled to open the inning and eventually scored on a ground ball off the bat of Tara Hersey which was mishandled by the Colonels shortstop.
Nicholls State entered the seventh trailing 4-3 and Nicole Carter struck out the first batter she faced before giving up a double to left field to Clouarte. Traci Moore then came on in relief and allowed a single to Harrell before getting a strikeout of a pinch hitter in the number two spot in the batting order. Nicholls State's third hitter then hit a ball to shortstop which was mishandled allowing the two runs to score.
