Ladyjacks Blank Islanders, 6-0

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks clinched their second Southland Conference series victory of the season with a 6-0 victory over the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders Sunday at the SFA Softball Field.
SFA (14-28, 7-14) recorded their fifth shutout of the season behind the right arm of senior Angela White, who hurled a complete game shutout to improve to 5-14 on the year and earn her second victory in as many days. White scattered seven hits over seven innings, struck out three and walked none.
The Ladyjacks broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when Elizabeth Arana led off the frame with an infield single and then advanced to second following a Nicole Wooten base hit through the left side. Following a sacrifice bunt by Cadie Weaver, sophomore Shalie Day blasted a two-run double off the left field wall to give SFA the lead for good, 2-0.
Islanders' (9-35, 4-17) starting pitcher Constance took the loss, falling to 6-14 by surrendering six runs (five earned) in seven innings on six hits and issued six walks.
The Ladyjacks will next make their final road trip of the season next weekend when they travel to Houston to face new SLC member Houston Baptist. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday, April 27 beginning at 1 p.m.
