The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team dropped a pair of games to the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana by scores of 4-2 and 5-4, Saturday afternoon to fall to 9-50 on the season, and 3-22 in Southland Conference play.

SLU scored a run in the top of the second inning on a pair of singles following a one out walk to take a 1-0 lead in the first game. Kristen Rogilio drove in the run with a two out single.

Traci Moore worked 7.2 innings in the game allowing only the single run on seven hits while striking out two. Devin Cobb (4-16) came on in relief of Moore in the eighth inning and gave up three runs on three hits while walking two batters and striking out three.

The 'Jacks sent the game to extra innings when Brooke Chandler hit her fourth home run of the year in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 1-1. Chandler was 2-3 with the home run in the first game of the doubleheader.

SLU scored three runs in the top of the 10th to break the 1-1 tie, then held SFA to only a single run the bottom of the tenth inning to win 4-2.

Both teams came out hot in the first inning of the second game with SLU scoring three runs in the top of the first inning on three hits to take an early 3-0 lead. SFA bounced right back with three runs in the bottom of the inning following a one out single off the bat of Yvette Bass, walks to Chandler and Mimi Van Ryn to load the bases. Devin Cobb then hit a fly ball to left field which scored a run and another run scored on an error by the catcher to make it a 3-2 game. Sarah Stone then singled with two outs to drive in the third run of the inning and tie the score at 3-3.

SLU broke the 3-3 tie in the top of the fifth inning when lead-off hitter Sarah Gascon reached on an error followed by an RBI triple off the bat of Kristy Menke. Leading 4-3, SLU added an insurance run with a scrifice fly to score Menke and make it a 5-3 game.

The 'Jacks bounced right back with a run in the bottom of the fifth following a lead-off single by Kacie Rees. Rees was moved to second on a sacrifice by B.J. Cruff, then scored following a misplayed ball off the bat of Yvette Bass. Bass moved all the way to third base on errors by Southeastern Louisiana and was left stranded when Brooke Chandler struck out to end the inning.

The 'Jacks put the tying run on base with one out in the bottom of the seventh when Meryl McGuire drew a walk but could not get her around to force the second game to extra innings. The series, and the season, wraps up with a single game Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
