    FRISCO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team got out to a solid start on its opening weekend, recording a 3-2 mark at the Baylor Getterman Classic. Junior infielder Jessica Tullos was a big part of that success, and Tuesday she was rewarded for her efforts by being named the first Southland Conference Hitter of the Week for 2007. The honor is the first of Tullos' career and marks the first hitter of the week award for an SFA player since the 2004 season, according to notes released Tuesday by conference officials.

    Tullos batted .438 in the tournament, going 7-for-16 with four doubles and a triple. She drove in a team-best eight runs, including a three-RBI effort against Kentucky, when she doubled three times. Tullos hit a two-RBI triple in SFA's win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She was named to the Getterman Classic All-Tournament Team.

    Tullos and the Ladyjacks will be back in action Tuesday evening, when they travel to Ruston, La., to take on Louisiana Tech. SFA is scheduled for a doubleheader against the Lady Techsters, beginning at 3 p.m.
