SFA To Host North Texas On Wednesday

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks softball team opens up a four-game homestand starting on Wednesday when they host North Texas at 4 p.m. in the final non-conference game of the season.
SFA (14-30, 7-16) is coming off a doubleheader loss at Houston Baptist on Monday after having to wait through two days of rain-caused postponements. The Ladyjacks went 3-8 in May including a series victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last time out at the SFA Softball Field. SFA carries a 6-7 home record into play on Wednesday against a North Texas team that holds a 25-22 overall mark and had an 11-9 road record.
The Ladyjacks are led by junior shortstop Elizabeth Arana, who leads SFA in every offensive category and boasts a .395 batting average.
North Texas is led offensively by Brooke Foster, who is batting .386 and leads the Mean Green in runs (28), hits (59 and total bases (85). In the circle Ashley Kirk holds a 13-8 record and has struck out 152 batters.
Following Wednesday SFA will host Southeastern Louisiana in a three-game series over the weekend to close the 2013 campaign.
