Ladyjack Netters Shutout by Rice SFA tennis drops first match of the season

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team lost its first match of the season Saturday afternoon, 7-0, to Rice. The Ladyjacks are now 2-1 (.667 win percentage) in 2002.

The Rice Owls jump out of the gate quickly sweeping all three doubles matches to win the double point. Rice extended its lead to 2-0 when Natalie Briaud defeated the Ladyjacks' Jessica Beauchene (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Rice closed out the match winning the final five singles matches.

The Ladyjacks return to the court Friday March 1st, to open the 2002 home schedule against Centenary. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., from the SFA Tennis Courts.
